Podcast Listening Rut
I love listening to smart, honest conversations that help me better understand the world and the people living in it. But too often, I’m consuming the same handful of podcasts I subscribed to long ago, which means I’m hearing the same voices on the same general topics.
I don’t subscribe to new podcasts lightly, yet I felt like I was too silo’d into podcast echo chambers and struggled to find new, engaging conversations in a casual way.
Perhaps I’m Not Alone
The idea for Earmark started when, on a podcast, pop culture author Chuck Klosterman said:
“A podcast can be extraordinarily popular, and yet completely unknown to every single person who doesn’t actively listen to it. It’s just… wild, and there’s been nothing else like this.”
I want to know about the meaningful conversations happening in the world around me, and Chuck’s observation leads me to believe that others may too.
My Earmark Promise
Earmark is a weekly newsletter that sorts through the hundreds of podcast episodes that get released, and ‘earmarks’ the ones that are genuinely worth considering for your consumption.
Each Friday, I round up the 5–10 conversations that actually made me think — across business, technology, science, culture, and whatever else caught my attention — and land them in your inbox before the weekend, when you may have time to listen.
New issues drop every Friday at noon eastern time.
